Let’s chat Netflix again. Some time ago, I told you if Indihome still blocks access to Netflix until now. One way to break it is to use a VPN.

I think using a VPN is not something wrong from the consumer side. Consumers pay access to Telkom, and consumers pay access to Netflix. But with the power of consumer over ISPs is not strong in this country. The choice is to change the ISP or use another method, with a VPN.

Using a VPN is also not using any VPN. VPN must have the Netflix unblock feature, and have a server in Indonesia (so that consumers from the Netflix side are still legal).

One VPN that I tried and succeeded was PrivateVPN.

Server in Indonesia

First, there must ensure that the server uses a server in Indonesia. Although using VPN and accessing Netflix using another country server can open geo-blocking on Netflix, but I don’t recommend it because it means illegal.

Supports Netflix

This PrivateVPN says it can use for Netflix. For me, the point is, if Netflix has access using the Indonesian Netflix server, it doesn’t block anymore.

Price

There is a price to pay more for Netflix access on Indihome. I once have a free VPN application such as Betternet that can play Netflix but with low quality because of bandwidth.

For PrivateVPN, the price must be paid starting from $ 4.15 (Rp56,081) to $ 8.21 (Rp110 945) @ 18 Oct 2017

Setting

After registering a VPN service, the next step is to use it on our device. For PrivateVPN, there are several ways.

Can use the application/software provided by PrivateVPN, or use other manual methods such as the router.

When on Android, I’m using the application. But at home, I do the settings through a different router from the router provided by Telkom.

If you have a router that can use VPN, make sure it’s easy for the settings. At least, the router must be able to support OpenVPN, L2TP, or PPTP. Enter the Indonesian server provided by PrivateVPN, enter your account username and password. After that, it should be able to connect to PrivateVPN.

Yet… there are other problems at Indihome. Though already use VPN, Indihome uses the DNS Inject, which changes the DNS that we have set on the router. So at first, Netflix was still inaccessible. But by changing the DNS on each device (I use Google’s DNS), I can access Netflix.

Chromecast can also access Netflix using this configuration on the router.

How? Have experience using VPN for Netflix access? Share in the comments column or mention me on Twitter.
